What Our Guests Say

Want to know what our recent guests had to say then read on.  For all our reviews in full please log on to the Caravan Club site and search for "Fowey CL".

We have now visited this lovely CL twice, once in February and later in October. On both occasions the site was well kept, clean and the owners a delight to talk too. The location is perfect for accessing a large area particularly if you use the short hop across the river Fowey on the Bodinnick ferry to travel further. We have two whippets and there are plenty of large open spaces with the beach included to exercise them on a short drive away. We strongly recommend you pay this site a visit, particularly off peak as Fowey is a very popular and busy tourist attraction - You won’t be disappointed.

David and Sarah offer a very warm welcome to their CL and their website is also very helpful with local information, walks, etc. The site is 20 minutes walk from the centre of Fowey (although part of this is along a narrow lane) and thus it is well situated. The CL is relatively new and has been well set up. It is quite shady which may suit some although not sunlovers!

One of our pitches is particularly shady and we always inform guests at the time of booking if this is the only pitch available.  As our photos show, Fowey CL is surrounded by mature trees; over 10 different species of all shapes, sizes and colours.  The trees enclose the site ensuring privacy and the feel of a secluded wooded clearing.  They shelter the site from the worst excesses of the Cornish weather and attract an abundance of wildlife.  They change the character of the site and the quality of light with the seasons and, in my view, make Fowey CL special.

Just stopped at this site for a week and what a great location for Fowey. The site has been opened for about 18 months, which the owners Sarah and David make you feel very welcome whilst you are there. The walks listed on their web site are a must and we did a number of them over the week.

Fowey is a great location and only a 10 minute walk to the start of the town / carpark, probably 20 mins into the centre. You will definitely need a torch in the winter nights. The hardstanding pitches all have water and a tv aerial, even though our dish on the van picked up a good signal. They also have the benefit of wifi, even though I could only pick up from the awning and was hit and miss at times, but I was on holiday and only used to look for things to do / reviews.

Sorry to hear you had trouble receiving wifi in your van.  The router was expensive and should perform better.  The signal strength  may be affected by the number of people using the network and interference from other electrical equipment.  The wifi is for the use of the site only - we have a different connection at the house - but when the site is busy I have seen in excess of 15 devices connected.  I have now installed two large external antennas and have not had any complaints regarding the Wi-Fi so I am confident that the issues have been resolved.

Just spent 3 weeks at this lovely CL. We arrived to find a name plate next to our pitch which was flat level & a good size. Access is a little tight but no real problem & you get plenty of notice you are approaching the entrance. Each pitch has access to fresh water electricity & a satellite TV connection, a decoder box is offered if required. David & Sarah introduced themselves within hours of arrival. We found them to be very accommodating allowing me to park my 2nd car & boat on their drive just up the lane. Sarah even phoned me the evening prior to our arrival to advise me the pitch would be available from 7 am. The site is a 10 minute walk from Fowey and although there is no footpath we didn’t Find it a problem with our 2 children & dog. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this site to anybody wanting to visit Cornwall. Thank you David & Sarah for providing a lovely site for our holiday.

A great CL with a lovely friendly family running it. Sarah came and knocked on the door on our 1st evening and introduced herself and we met David the following day. All pitches hard standing, great wifi and although we were told TV reception might not be good, it was fine. Follow the instructions given and it is an easy journey. Would definitely use again if we are in the area.

Such a lovely CL site! Sarah and David were so welcoming and extremely helpful. Good spacious pitches and the site is so well cared for. We would not hesitate in recommending this site. Please follow the instructions on their website with regards to directions as some roads are narrow so they have given precise directions. Would definitely go back when next in the area.

We stayed over Christmas/New Year 2015/16. The site was easy to find and impressive in that a huge amount of ground levelling etc had been done to make the hardstandings excellent. The welcome was very good and the satellite TV feed to each site was a major benefit for us as it rained every day except Christmas Day. We used our Freesat box but a Sky box would work as well. Our Xmas lunch was excellent in the St Austell brewery pub in Charlestown. The site is surrounded by tall trees so very sheltered from winds. The owners have put a huge amount of effort into creating a good site and were ‘on call’ almost all of the time. We have a 575 long van and found no problems in access BUT the way to the site has to be by the instructions given.

Stayed over the bank holiday. An excellent site with all hardstandings with plenty of space between pitches. Good facilities with own tap on pitch, less than a mile from Fowey and an easy walk in and out along road. Found a great tapas bar - Pintxo - so impressed we visited twice. TV reception was poor but owners have satellite connection if required and really fast broadband. Peaceful setting and already booked to come back.

Spent a few days here in April. Second time we tried to get in here - full last September. Easy access to site for motorhomes/caravans. Owners very friendly and welcoming. All hardstanding, level pitches, free wifi, satellite TV provided if required, lovely clean recycling area. Site very quiet in woodland setting with a 10 min walk to the outskirts of Fowey down a lane. One of the best CLs we have visited and we will definitely be back (if we can get in!). Toilet/shower facilities would be a great addition but not sure if they are viable here.

So glad you enjoyed your stay.  We have considered toilets and showers but we must have all the waste water generated by the site removed.  If we installed toilets and showers we would generate a lot more waste water and we would have to raise prices to cover this.. so, for now, we have ruled this out as we think higher prices will reduce our visitor numbers.
