Frequently Asked Questions

What are your 2024 rates?

Our prices are subject to change. For an up to date price, please phone. Currently, we charge £18 per night for a pitch and up to two adults without electrical hook-up. We charge £25 per night for a pitch and up to two adults with up to 10 kW of power. We charge £26 per night for a pitch and up to two adults with up to 15 kW of power. Guests who’s power use exceeds 15 kW hours will be charged for each additional unit at 55p per unit.

We strongly recommend guests to heat their vans using gas and to switch off water heaters when they are not required to save on electrical fees.

Additional adult guests are £4 extra per night.  Under 16s are £3.00 extra per night and under fives stay for free.  Please call for an up to date quote and to check availability.

Do I have to pay a deposit?

We will require a 50% deposit in advance when we are busy and will contact you ahead of your arrival date to request deposit payment.  We operate on a fair deposit basis, we understand that sometimes life doesn't go to plan so, providing that we fill the vacancy or have not turned down bookings on the understanding that we are full, your deposit will be returned in the event of cancellation.  Please pay deposits promptly if requested to guarantee your reservation.

Do you allow dogs on your Caravan site?  if so, do you charge extra?

Yes, well behaved dogs are welcome and no, we do not charge for dogs, however, we like to know how many dogs are likely to be on the caravan site at any one time so we will ask you about your dog at the time of bookingWe do expect visitors with dogs to clean up after their pets and do not permit dogs to be left unattended on the site or in a caravan or motorhome or other vehicle at any time.  We have to respect our neighbours and other guests so reserve the right, as a last resort, to ask guests who ignore the conditions above, or those with troublesome dogs, to vacate the site early.

does the campsite have toilet and shower facilities?

We expect our guests to use the facilities in their caravans or motorhomes.  Naturally we have an Elsan point for the disposal of chemical waste and a waste/grey water disposal point.

is the site an adults only caravan site?

Families are welcome at Fowey CL but the site does not have a children's play area.

How far is Fowey from the site?

Fowey is less than a mile from the site and will take 15 to 20 minutes to walk depending on fitness.  The B3269 is a quiet road but when the ferry discharges a slug of traffic will travel out of Fowey.  The road does not have pavements or street lights and we would strongly advise guests to take a torch and reflective clothing if they anticipate walking back to the site after dark.  Follow the directions here to avoid most of the traffic or return to the site using the Fowey Town Bus - they will drop you back to the site for £1.50.

Does the cl caravan site have free WiFi?

We have free, fast, WiFi up until the 19th of May 2024, when our current contract ends..

When do you recommend visiting?

Personally, I love May in Cornwall.  The weather is often good, all the wild flowers burst into bloom and Fowey hosts The Daphne Du Maurier Festival.  Alternatively, the Fowey Royal Regatta in the third week of August.  There is always something worth seeing in Cornwall any time of the year...but we can't promise fine weather!

Are you open all year?

We are open all year. Please note, we try to minimise inconvenience over the peak season but this is a large property and work has to be done to maintain it. If you visit between November and March you may hear more noise or smell the occasional bonfire.

Do you have recycling facilities?

We are currently only providing glass recycling bins.

Can we use a barbecue?

Of course barbecues are permitted.  We would ask guests to ensure disposable barbecues are not placed directly on the turf but on a suitable stand otherwise it kills the grass. Open fires are not permitted.

Our van sleeps 4 or more.  Can we invite friends to stay?

Our rates are based on two adults per pitch.  All the waste water (grey and brown) has to be removed from the site at considerable expense, there is no soak-away, so we ask for an extra charge of £4 payable per additional adult to cover waste disposal costs.

What time can we arrive and when do we have to depart?

We ask guests to arrive no earlier than 12:00 pm and to depart the site by 11:00am.  This ensures that a pitch is vacant upon your arrival and minimises chaotic change-overs during busy periods.  Caravan Club rules only permit five vans on site at any time! If we are quiet, you are welcome to arrive earlier but please call to confirm this the evening before you are due to arrive.

Do we have to leave at 11:00? we want to make the most of our last day?

We do not have an arrivals area/parking area for late departures.  If you would like to depart later than 11:00 I'm afraid we will only be able to give you a definitive answer the evening before you are due to leave. Late departures, when permitted, may require guests to change pitch to help with our scheduling. Late departures do not include electricity. If you are leaving late you will have to disconnect your van by 11am on the day of your departure.

Can we erect an awning?

Of course you can but please note, our pitches are granite chippings so your tent pegs should be the robust rock peg variety.  The largest awning depth we can accommodate is 3m.  I'm afraid, as with sites on the continent, we do not permit guests to erect awnings on the grass as it takes many weeks for the grass to recover.  If your awning is 3m wide or larger please notify us when you make your booking.

We don't want to move our motorhome all the time, is there a bus stop nearby?

Yes, there is a bus stop, it will take you 15 minutes to walk there from the site.

I'm a nature lover.  Will I see any wildlife?

I can't promise anything but we have, at one time or another, seen badgers, roe deer, weasels, tawny owls, buzzards, woodpeckers, herons, sparrow hawks and foxes to name a few.  So, if you're lucky, you may well do!

Will I pick up tV reception with all those trees around?

Many of us enjoy watching TV from our caravans or motorhomes but Freeview reception on site varies.  To overcome this, I have installed a satellite dish on-site and will happily provide you with a suitably long cable to connect to your satellite enabled TV.  For those visitors without a satellite receiving TV I can provide you with a satellite receiver for the duration of your stay for a £35 deposit (returnable upon departure). Please note: Decoder boxes are only available to guests who have paid the full balance of their stay. The dish only receives transmissions from the Astra 2 satellite.

Can I charge my electric/hybrid vehicle?

Our nightly rate does not include charging your electric vehicle. We care about the environment as much as anybody but we cannot subsidise the cost of your motoring whilst keeping rates low for those of us without electric vehicles. If you have an electric vehicle and intend to charge it during your stay, please let us know before you arrive and we will adjust your nightly rate accordingly.
